"While We're Waiting" Weekend Retreat for Bereaved Dads

Weekend retreats just for "While We're Waiting" Dads are also available.

Our next Dads' weekend will be held at the While We're Waiting Refuge the weekend of October 28-30, 2016.

The retreat will begin on Friday evening and end after a worship time on Sunday morning.  Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided on Saturday, and breakfast will be provided on Sunday.  There is no cost for either our retreats; however, a love offering will be taken to help offset the expenses of this event.

Every Dad who comes will be given the opportunity to share about his son or daughter who is in Heaven.  He can share as much or as little as he likes and no one will be required to share if he is uncomfortable.  We will also spend time talking about the issues we face every day as grieving Dads.  A variety of topics will be presented, and the group will choose which ones we will discuss.

We have found so much comfort from drawing near to other men of faith who understand what it is like to lose a child.  We believe you will, too.  We also believe that life-long friendships will be formed as we support and encourage each other in a way that no one else can.

Here's a note from a Dad who attended our October 2013 retreat.  We share it with his permission ...

"I want to thank you for this weekend.  I know so much more will come to me as I process these moments over the next couple of weeks, months & years to come.  But, these are the immediate take-aways that I will leave with today:  1) I'm not alone in this walk, 2) the opportunity to bring my son alive in the open discussions and just saying his name aloud again, and 3) ways to move forward in my life, but more importantly, my faith.  Thanks again, and God bless you."
